This cream shag rug is the palest the design goes, a warm ivory that drifts toward sand where the pile falls one way and back toward white where it falls the other. A pale solid usually risks reading as a blank, and depth is what solves it here: the wool is long enough to hold shadow between the strands, so the surface has structure to look at even without a pattern or a second color. Fringe at each end is optional. Designed in New York and hand-knotted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a deep 1.5 inch pile that stays soft and upright underfoot. Made to order in any size, so a cream field can open up a small room or carry a large one. Each rug is ready in 5 to 6 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

Construction: Hand-knotted shag

Material: 100% New Zealand wool

Dimensions: Standard sizes available online, with fully custom sizes on request

Pile Height: 1"

Origin: Handmade in Bhadohi, India — a region renowned for fine carpet weaving

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen with use. Vacuum regularly on a high-pile setting. Clip loose ends with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning recommended.

See our rug care guide for more tips.

Shipping: Knotted shag rugs are handmade to order and typically ship within 5–6 weeks. Once dispatched, delivery takes 3–5 business days via DHL Express. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping on all rugs.

Our Picks for You

Keeping a Pale Rug from Looking Flat

The problem with a pale solid is that it can read as an absence rather than a choice. Texture is the fix, and pile height is the most effective kind. On a cream shag, the long wool casts small shadows across itself all day, so the floor has movement and depth without any color doing the work. That is what lets a pale rug hold its own under strong furniture and against white walls, where a flat cream would simply recede.

Cream also does something practical. It reflects light back up into a room, which lifts a space with few windows or a north-facing aspect, and it takes on the temperature of whatever is around it, going warmer beside oak and leather and cooler beside stone and steel.

Each rug is knotted by hand in Bhadohi, one knot at a time around a cotton foundation, and the pile is left long rather than sheared close. That takes considerably more wool, and it is the reason the surface has body rather than lying flat. Browse more in our Shag Rugs and White Rugs collections, or explore the wider Neutral Rugs range. Every Jubi rug is made to order, so this cream can be woven to the exact size your room needs.
